Jay M. Hoelscher, MD

Raised in a small farming community in Nebraska, Dr. Hoelscher developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for community values from an early age. He pursued his undergraduate degree in biochemistry at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, where he built a strong foundation in the sciences. His passion for medicine led him to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, where he earned his medical degree before completing his residency in internal medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.
During his undergraduate studies, Dr. Hoelscher broadened his cultural and linguistic skills by attending the Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) in Monterrey, Mexico. There, he studied Spanish, an experience that proved invaluable in his medical career. Over the years, he has become fluent in Spanish, allowing him to provide high-quality, compassionate care to a diverse patient population.
Dr. Hoelscher believes that medicine is both a science and an art, combining technical knowledge with human connection. “It is an honor to earn the trust of my patients and apply science along with compassion and empathy to solve their health problems,” he says.
Outside of medicine, he enjoys landscaping his yard with a garden model railroad, cycling, and spending quality time with his wife and children.
